I have been thinking a lot about relationships. There are UPS and downs in every relationship, sometimes you are able to weather the storm and sometimes not. I think sometimes people just give up too easily on marriages and friendships and sometimes even family relationships. I value the friendships I have made and believe their is a reason that person came into my life.
Even when you live across the country from each other and after 30 years you are still friends. A friendship that started in the 8th grade and you shared your most intimate secrets of crushes on boys, family matters and school situations. Someone you shared some memories forever etched in your mind. Now with email and facebook you still keep in touch and are aware of each others daily life.
Sometimes you meet someone you picked and you will always be friends because they helped you out in difficult situations and was there for you and you will always be forever grateful.
Sometimes your friend is picked for you but you were only 3 months old and after 33 years, I guess someone was right in choosing this friend for you.
Sometimes you meet someone and then they move away and you loose contact, and one day you are out shopping and you run into someone that recognizes you and lets you know your friend has moved back and has been trying to find you, it must be fate right?
Friends you have met over 40 years ago and sometimes you don't see them often and you think about them and wonder do they think of you?
Sometimes there is a bond, where all of you are trying to achieve the same goal, lots of blood sweat and tears (we played their song in band) and you come together as friends and even after 40+ years you plan a reunion to reconnect with the friends that bonded together so many years ago.

we need to try harder to save relationships, marriages, etc.

Oh- Yes...Love those old friends that know us intimately..that have watched us struggle and fail...struggle and succeed. Friends are just a blessing in my life. Thanks for the wonderful post- Diana
Oh yes, this is so true...and after almost 40 years, I connected with my girlfriend from high school...she had been trying to reach me for a few years, but my last name had changed!
It was a miracle that we found each other...
Oh, and I put your name in my drawing!!

Have a happy Sunday. xx
Friendship! We so need each other! A great post...and I've signed on to follow your blog!
Wonderful, wonderful post! I too have a friendship just like this since the 7th grade. Thirty years this year. I heard a saying once about friendships like this. "Friendships that start when you are very young last forever because the people know you before you became 'who' you are. You were just Suzann, not title, no identifier, just Suzann. Cool huh?

Hey sue! How cool to open this up and see pics of me and you! Love your blog. I remember how we use to write letters constantly in school. You always had something interesting to write about. I'm so glad that we continue to be best friends even though we are on opposite coasts. Keep writing Sue, I'll keep reading! Xoxo, Kerry
