A Fun Festival

How was your weekend?  It rained all day today here in Florida, YUCK!!!
My son Corey, the son that went to Thailand back in November?   Today he invited me to go to a Thai festival, it was raining kinda bad but we decided to go ahead and try to enjoy the day.  Oh by the way.....this is my son and my daughter-in-law...yep he got married!!!!  Told them they need to get to work at getting me a granddaughter :)

They had outside tent like (tops no sides) any way several "tents" were filled with delicious food that people prepared and some of the proceeds were to be donated to the temple.
I do love spicy food even though my tummy might disagree :)
Excuse my attempt at Thai......  we had Pad Thai...this is one of my favorite dishes that she has made for us and it is sooo good!!!  We also had Chicken Satay (Chicken grilled on a stick), Egg roll, Sticky rice with mangoes marinated like in a coconut sauce,  Papaya salad which is well liked by the women in Thailand.  It is a VERY SPICY salad and they like it cause it helps them to loose weight .... (I need to have her make a batch for me so I can have it EVERY day).  Love that salad also but my lips were burning and I had to stop eating it.  Kai Hong which is a ball of sesame seeds and a taro filling, did not like that one so much.  Also had these little orange balls that reminded me of little balls of dough deep fried and then covered in a sweet sauce...they were good!!!   I hope I got the names right, I am still in the learning stage :)

There were two of these standing guard to protect the temple.

The alter was beautiful with all the flowers and the Buddha in gold

The art work on all of the walls were fantastic so much detail.

Chandeliers all over on the ceiling.

It is so interesting to learn another culture isn't it?

Wow! I love learning about other cultures - how wonderful that you have a lovely daughter in law as your own "tour guide". Pad Thai is my favourite ( although I haven't had a very extensive exposure )
have a great week! Karen

OMG he came home with a wife? I know, it has been a crummy weekend, I had planned on painting, but got washed out. So glad you ventured out and had some great food and fun!

Suzann- It looks like you had a delightful time and it looks like you got yourself a nice daughter-in-law. It is fun to see how different we all are from each other and yet all the same somehow. Blessings to all of you. I can't eat spicy foods at all..it tears my stomach up. xo Diana

Sounds like a really fun time, and your new daughter in law is beautiful. Diana sent me over, and I am a new follower.

How fun and beautiful. My favorite sushi restaurant has thai food too and on Friday night I had the most delicious salad with thai spices. So yum!

I keep telling my daughter to get busy on the baby thing but she says she's not ready. Her daddy said this:

"Oh honey...that's OK! When the day comes they'll just wheel me in to see you with my oxygen tank in tow!"

HAHAHHAHAHA

So glad you went to the festival and had such a wonderful time~

Thank you for your sweet comment on the bullying thing. Very scary days. Praying for peace, wisdom and mercy for all children.
